CACI International Inc Achieves CMMI Version 1.2 Maturity Level 3 Rating
The Systems and Software Consortium, Inc. (SSCI) congratulates CACI International Inc on successfully achieving Maturity Level 3 (Defined) rating using the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) - Development, version 1.2. The Level 3 rating was awarded to CACI’s Transformation Solutions Group (TSG) Business System Solutions (BSS) organization, headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia. The CACI Operating Group that achieved this rating encompassed four Division Groups with approximately 700 people engaged in systems and software integration.
The scope of the appraisal encompassed eight projects, including one “sensitive” project generating five instantiations of each CMMI practice. These selected projects reflect BSS’s line of business and represent 11% of their staff, 22% of their projects, and spans four geographical locations.
During the ten-day appraisal, SSCI conducted 12 interview sessions and interviewed 55 participants from across the organization. The appraisal team, led by SSCI’s Software Engineering Institute Certified SCAMPI Lead Appraiser – Boris Mutafelija, consisted of two CACI corporate members, five BSS members, and one TSG member, providing a variety of views and experiences, with enhanced objectivity.
“I personally congratulate CACI’s BSS management and staff in achieving this milestone. This milestone is even more noteworthy because the significant size of the appraised organization,” says Boris Mutafelija. “The evidence collected during documentation reviews and interviews showed solid process implementation and institutionalization. The undivided executive and senior management sponsorship was crucial to enabling such a large effort. CACI’s Project Resource Group (PRG) provided critical support to facilitate both the BSS process improvement initiative and the appraisal itself – without PRG, achievement of the objectives established by the CACI organizational sponsor would not be possible.”
CMMI was developed by a coalition of industry, government, and the Software Engineering Institute to objectively appraise an organization’s software and systems development capability. Level 3 indicates that an organization’s processes are institutionalized, consistent across the organization, and measurable. Companies who attain a Level 3 maturity rating continually meet or exceed customer expectations by delivering high quality products within budget and on time.
