LABOR CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS

Principal Consultant II (20)

Education/Experience: Doctorate degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related technical field with 8-12 years directly related professional work experience, publication history, significant involvement with professional societies or research institutions (e.g., presentation of papers, participation in sponsored research), and recognition as an authority in one or more disciplines.
Or

Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related technical field with 12-20 years directly related professional work experience, publication history, significant involvement with professional societies or research institutions (e.g., presentation of papers, participation in sponsored research), and recognition as an authority in one or more disciplines.
Or

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related technical field with 20 or more years directly related professional work experience, publication history, significant involvement with professional societies or research institutions (e.g., presentation of papers, participation in sponsored research), and recognition as an authority in one or more disciplines.

Responsibility: Works within broad objectives to obtain unique solutions to complex technical problems. Achieving expected results is complicated by lack of formal definition of the issues. Extensive study and interpretation of the problem is necessary to discover all issues affecting conclusion. Results of work are considered technically authoritative and are generally accepted without significant change. May provide leadership to encourage and direct others in anticipating, analyzing and solving complex problems. Incumbent will likely have frequent, high-level contact with current or prospective customers in defining problems and developing appropriate solutions.

Principal Consultant I (20)

Education/Experience: Doctorate degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related technical field with 3+ years directly related professional work experience, publication history, significant involvement with professional societies or research institutions (e.g., presentation of papers, participation in sponsored research), and recognition as an authority in one or more disciplines.
Or

Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related technical field with 8+ years directly related professional work experience, publication history, significant involvement with professional societies or research institutions (e.g., presentation of papers, participation in sponsored research), and recognition as an authority in one or more disciplines.
Or

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related technical field with 12 or more years directly related professional work experience, publication history, significant involvement with professional societies or research institutions (e.g., presentation of papers, participation in sponsored research), and recognition as an authority in one or more disciplines.

Responsibility: Works within broad objectives, with considerable latitude for interpreting specific task requirements and selecting the methodology to be used for achieving expected results. At this level, work is diverse, and may require leadership responsibilities requiring the ability to establish priorities, interpret conflicting data, and redirect efforts with little or no forewarning. Has frequent customer contact with customer personnel in completing assignments and resolving problems.

Consultant II (18)

Education/Experience: Doctorate degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer-related technical field with 0-3 years directly related professional work experience and a demonstrated record of accomplishment in the field.
Or

Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer-related technical field with 4-8 years directly related professional work experience and a demonstrated record of accomplishment in the field.
Or

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer-related technical field with 8 or more years directly related professional work experience and a demonstrated record of accomplishment in the field.

Responsibility: Works within general guidelines and exercises considerable latitude for selecting appropriate methods for completing assignments and may provide leadership to technical staff. May initiate contact with customer personnel to solicit or provide information within the scope of tasks delegated.

Administrator II

Education/Experience: Bachelors degree with 5+ years directly related work experience.
Or

Associate’s degree with 8+ years directly related work experience.
Or

High school diploma/equivalent or vocational certificate with 10+ years directly related work experience.

Responsibility: Requires limited supervision in performing diverse duties of a complicated nature. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices. Operates with considerable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
