TRAINING COURSES The Consortium's training program has been very successful and is one of the most tangible benefits of membership. More than 22,000 training days have been provided to members and Government customers’ engineers and project managers. The use of videoconferences has greatly accelerated the reach of Consortium training programs. Over 10,000 software and systems engineers have participated in this type of training. The courses listed in this section are arranged by the Consortium’s two major product lines, Engineering Software-Intensive Systems (ESIS) and Systematic Process Improvement (SPI). Flexible Training Consortium training courses are designed for flexible use by customers on an "as needed" basis, so that program staff can receive the customized "training on demand" they need to apply appropriate Consortium technologies, when they most need it. To help tailor courses to various audiences, ranging from executives, management, and technical, many courses are available at different levels of detail, which include short overviews, 1-day condensed courses, and full-length courses. Courses typically train users about project-ready technologies that can be immediately applied on critical programs, and include significant customer-domain examples to introduce and reinforce key concepts. The Consortium offers a number of training approaches that have evolved over time incorporating "lessons learned" in delivering effective training. These are offered on a regular basis.
